Government Of, By and For The People Sounds Good - Until You Decide The People Are The Problem

In a Constitutional Democracy - in which the overwhelming majority of the population is enfranchised (since the 1960s) - the premise that government is the root of all evil fundamentally rejects the concept of a government 'Of the People, By the People, For the People.' The modern reactionary conservative movement that began with Barry Goldwater, found populist traction with Ronald Reagan, and which has resulted in Donald Trump simply revolves around the precept that democracy itself is the problem; that the moderate-to-left majority of people are incapable of governing themselves; and that they must be disenfranchised, to be replaced by a select morally and economically qualified minority into which all power must be vested. This is the text book definition of fascism.
